Things I've made, and a few rabbit holes I keep falling back into.
- tgh.rip This site. A fake terminal that turned out realer than it had any right to be — a virtual filesystem, ~70 commands, and a handful of things it won't tell you about until you ask nicely. Built by hand, no framework babysitting. It's the most fun I've had making a website in years.
- the odd-places list A running collection of strange, beautiful, and slightly-wrong places I want to visit before I run out of time. Started as a text file, became a spreadsheet, is slowly becoming a proper map. Half of it I found down a late-night rabbit hole and never climbed back out of.
- marginalia Reading notes, out loud. Every book I finish gets a page: one quote, one argument, one thing I got wrong. Mostly it's an excuse to dig through the public domain and rediscover how weird and wonderful old writing gets. There is more good stuff out of copyright than any of us will ever read.
- somewhere-else radio A little ritual more than a project: pick a dot on the far side of the world, listen to whatever's on the local station, and try to guess the country before the DJ says it. Radio Garden makes it stupidly easy and I've lost whole evenings to it. Highly recommend the 3am shift in Reykjavík.
- field notes A photo-and-caption journal I keep for no one but myself: light on a wall, a menu with a typo, the exact shade of a sky I'll never see again. Nothing profound. That's sort of the point — the ordinary stuff is the first thing you forget.
More of this lives in a drawer somewhere — half-finished, occasionally revisited. That's how you know it's real: the graveyard is always bigger than the trophy case.
